Empowering Washington residents through vehicle donations and essential benefits access.

Our mission, our story, and why this work matters locally.

How we started

Wheels for Impact was born from a deep recognition of the challenges faced by many Washington residents. In 2017, a small group of community advocates in Seattle discovered that countless local families were eligible for vital benefits but remained unenrolled due to lack of awareness or access. They believed that addressing this gap required innovative thinking and a sustainable funding model. Thus, Wheels for Impact was formed, connecting vehicle donations to an essential purpose.

Our founders saw the potential in turning unused cars into a lifeline for individuals and families. The concept was simple yet powerful: each donated vehicle would provide essential funding to a dedicated benefits-research service. This service would help local residents navigate complex programs such as Basic Food, Apple Health, and WorkFirst, ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive in our communities.

Our mission

At Wheels for Impact, our mission is to bridge the gap between eligible residents and vital benefits programs in Washington. We strive to ensure that every neighbor knows about and can access opportunities like WIC, LIHEAP, and other essential resources. By transforming vehicle donations into actionable funding, we empower individuals and families to uplift their lives through informed choices. Together, we can make sure no Washington resident is left behind.

Our principles

Why this city

Washington is a diverse state rich in opportunity, yet many neighborhoods, especially in areas like Yakima and Spokane, face enrollment gaps in crucial benefits programs. Often, residents in low-income communities, including single-parent households and marginalized groups, struggle to access resources like Apple Health and Basic Food due to lack of awareness or outreach. By focusing our efforts here, we address these inequities head-on, working to ensure that every Washingtonian can realize their full potential through the support they deserve.
